		<description>I wouldnt suggest LOSING weight while pregnant just maintaining so you dont gain a lot... Try pregnancy exercises and watch what you eat make sure you are getting the nutrients you need start eating healthier now and exercising and after the baby you will be on the right track..</description>

		<description>You are getting a lot of different answers and people are going back and forth, yes-no or good-bad.  I want to share an actual experience.
My mother was already over weight when she became pregnant for the second time (5 ft 3 in &amp; 170 lbs/77.3 kg).  She had gained a lot during her first pregnancy, and did not shed the weight after.  She did not want to gain a lot this time around.  She discussed it with her Doctor, and the doctor allowed Mom to &quot;diet&quot;, but she had to come in for more frequent visits and have her blood drawn every week.  My mothers diet plan was approximately 2000-2500 calories a day of healthy foods.  No candy or junk food.  She did take her prenatal vitamins and extra calcium and iron.  At term, she had gained 1 lb/0.5 kg.  My sister was a healthy 7 lb baby.
Now this was 36 years ago, and many will disagree, and I&#039;m sure I&#039;ll get quite a few thumbs down.  My advice is talk to your doctor.   He may be able to refer you to a dietitian/nutritionist who can help you with a healthy eating plan.  You should not be trying loose weight at this time, but if you are significantly over weight, eating healthy foods in the right amounts may prevent you from gaining an excessive  amount of weight.  </description>

Anyways...
You need to make sure that you eat much MORE in the way of nutrients to ensure maximum benefits for your poor unborn child... (who probably will be a bit chubby!)
HOWEVER this doesnt mean to say that you might not lose weight - particularly if your diet is very bad now. But the chances are slim - you need to gain at least 20 lb to cope with the babies weight, weight of the placenta, blood, extra water etc, and thats if you maintain your current weight throughout. Many women feel much hungrier during pregnancy, and some retain alot of water too, both of these can cause weight gain.
it is never safe to diet during pregnancy - the only diet you should be on, is eating much much more in the way of vitamins, fruits, pulses etc, and ensuring your reserves in all the other food groups is kept high..

		<description>I lost weight when I was pregnant but that was because I was sick the one time and the other time I just felt like eating better. I wouldn&#039;t&#039;t suggest going on a diet, just try eating some healthier things, lots of fruit and veggies, take your vitamins, but whatever you do don&#039;t start some major exercise regime or don&#039;t take diet tabs.
